Get Fit... Before Wednesday!
Allot of bloggers I know have been making the commitment to getting healthier. Tara, Dave Fowler and David the Blogger Dad have been marking their progress at Blog to Fit while Matt at DC Urban Dad has been running a weekly challenge at his blog to help members in his community stick with their workouts. I’ve been quietly cheering them on, yet at the same time there’s a part of me that’s been feeling a bit guilty since I’ve turned down a few offers to join in. With all I’ve got going on in addition to the regular stuff, it’s been easy to make excuses, especially that I don’t have the time to work out. That and it’s been real easy to get away from good eating habits as well.
It would seem; however, I can no longer claim to not have the time for staying in shape. If you will recall a few weeks ago Ed and his alter ego The Fit Dad dropped by the Lunchbox during the search for Clark Kent, and he offered a few simple notes on nutrition along with some common sense work out tips. Did GEICO used an actual blogger to tell The Fit Dad’s story? No. I’m attesting to the fact that this information is no gimmick; it is effective and I’m living proof. Today after several years of that similar-type program, I’m at 175 and wear a size 31 (although I should be about 185 - stress and mono melted off the last 10 pounds & I'm using Ed's program to get some of it back). Here’s the deal though, that program cost me over $50 for the two books that only told half the story. I would have to pay at least another $30 for the rest of the add ons the author was trying to sell me. And I'd still have to design my own routine on top of it. There's a better deal out there though.

The things I like about this is its simple, short (I was working out 20 minutes a day when I could’ve just been sweating for 10. I'm such a blockhead),it’s highly structured, and it’s educational. These were the key things I needed in being able to keep up with regular work outs and eating schedule.
My wife “Lois” has actually been complaining about needing to work out, but her work schedule means leaving at 7AM and not returning until 7:30PM so there’s little room to fit something in. She hates – I mean HATES going to the gym, namely because she thinks everyone in the place expressly showed up to watch her. No matter how much I tell her that this is not the case, she refuses to believe me. So when I explained how she could do most all of this program at home she actually got a bit excited about it. Of course, given her love for cooking, it may have had something to do with all the recipes that come in this whole get up. No, this isn’t her Christmas gift, by the way. I might be the Man of Steel, but I’m not an idiot.

I just lmao at Lois insisting that everyone showed up at the gym to stare at her. Because the same happens to me. No seriously. Why else are those bastards there, and why are they ONLY looking at me? I refuse to go there. That, and there's not a gym for a hundred mile radius, but that's secondary, I can assure you...stick to your guns Lois. Those pervy little bastards only want YOU, not health...

Lois wanted me to say thanks for backing her up on this. I mean she is my hot wife, but my assurances that Ticket Master has no deal where they are selling tickets to anyone wanting to see her on a treadmill go unheeded.
I seem to be on the wives-kicking-my-ass list allot for some reason these days. Hmmm? (Package going in the mail Wednesday - should be there by Christmas)

I follow something similar called the 5 Factor Fitness. The goal is to work out 5 days a week at just 30 minutes. With a few free weights and a jump rope it is the perfect work out. I would love to spend hours in a gym to relieve stress, but there is just not enough time in a day. Now the thought of 10 minutes has me intrigued.
Ya, $20 servicing fee! That's my idea of being serviced. Can I say that? Oh right, it's my blog. Remind me to censor myself later.
The time thing is a killer. When I was working working, which is to say driving around from sales office to sales office you would think my time was the most limited, but I could spend a bunch of time in the gym. You'd think being at home would afford my all sorts of time, but no. It's more limited than ever since I have to work extra just to promote myself while getting kids snacks and checking homework. The ten minute thing from what I can see looks doable and not a gimmicky.
Cut me some slack, people, it's 8.52pm! Still, it's true: yogis need little sleep....
Regardless of life's circumstances, eating well and exercising should be top priorities. I work out at home. All I need is 45 minutes, 4 days a week, to stay in shape. It's totally doable.
I am also doing the Fit Dad's program! I haven't actually started it yet, but I am pretty psyched about it because I have SO little time to do it. Just wait, I am going to be fitting into that Supergirl costume like never before!
It's doable - just a matter of getting into a consistent regular routine.
And side comment response - yes, five kids.
Yay! and no photo-shopping. Ash and I are going to do it too - hopefully it will result in a testimonial from us or something.
If you want to photo shop, go ahead and photo shop. Just make sure the nipple rings are included.
I'm a trainer, own a personal training studio and sometimes it's hard for ME to fit in longer workouts, which is why I designed these things. They really are the ultimate excuse buster. If you don't have 10 minutes you're either the busiest person known to man or just lying to yourself.
Oh, I'll admit I'm being lazy, but once set a consistent time and routine then I can drive allot of miles before having to stop. What seems to work best is right after putting the girls on the bus and just before I start writing. The exercise helps get my brain in gear, as well as being a natural deterrent in curbing my ADD.
LOL! No worries. Those things came out a year ago. Nothing to rebel against.
